The National Bank for Economic Development (BNDE) hosted the U17 national team, crowned African champions, at its headquarters on Friday, June 5th. Beyond the recognition of this generation that has brought honor to Senegal on the African stage, this ceremony reflects the BNDE's support for national sport and Senegalese youth. It also provided an opportunity for the financial institution to meet with the players and coaching staff following their victory.

"You have honored Senegal"

Speaking to the crowd, the Director General of BNDE expressed his admiration and gratitude to the African champions. Addressing the coach, the captain, and the entire team, Mamadou Faye was effusive in his praise. “We are extremely proud to welcome you today. You have honored Senegal and given an entire nation immense joy and pride. You played in extremely difficult circumstances. This touched all Senegalese people. Despite this pressure and despite the support of your opponent, you remained focused and you won. Thank you for this demonstration of courage and determination,” he declared.

Beyond the congratulations, Mr. Faye reaffirmed BNDE's commitment to national sport. According to him, it was important for a national financial institution to provide more support to the teams representing Senegal on the international stage. "The national football team has always been sponsored by an international bank. And for us, as a national bank, this raises questions. We fought to secure this sponsorship opportunity, and we succeeded. BNDE thus becomes a partner of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and all national teams," he explained.

A partnership that goes beyond the jersey

Beyond its institutional support, the BNDE intends to provide individual support to the Lions to contribute to their personal and professional development. "Know that from today onward, we want to be by your side. We will explore with each of you the support options the bank can offer," added the managing director.

For its part, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) praised BNDE's commitment to sport and the country's development. Beyond the trophy presentation, the FSF highlighted the importance of its partnership with BNDE, particularly in the context of national competitions and programs for the development of Senegalese football, while emphasizing football's educational and civic mission. "It's not just about helping young people improve their football skills. It's about developing responsible citizens, role models for society, and agents of national development," declared FSF Vice-President Pape Sidy Lô, reiterating that the federation's objective is not only to train good athletes but also to build "the Senegalese of tomorrow."

For him, this collaboration is a concrete example of investment in Senegal's potential. He also praised the support of the BNDE, which he believes is an important lever for carrying out the missions entrusted to the federation, particularly in the areas of training, mentoring young talent, and promoting football throughout the country.

In a festive atmosphere, the bank's employees shared special moments with the players. The victory celebration was immortalized with photo sessions featuring the coveted trophy.

By accepting this trophy, BNDE demonstrates that sporting success and the strategic vision of a national company can come together to transform a one-off achievement into a sustainable project for the promotion of Senegalese sport.
